Independent Sales Representatives Wanted for a Great New Product!

Discourse in Time (DiT) Company Information

Discourse in Time is a new, interactive educational software program for history and English. The program is targeted to middle school, high school, homeschool and college students, along with individuals who like to learn through games. Our product is similar to Facebook in that students log on and “assume the lives” of historical and literary characters. They upload profile pictures, fill out their bios, send friend/frenemy requests, create events, communicate through “secret” messages, and respond in-character to history or literature plot events as they unfold. Some plot event responses are longer to encourage writing skills and standards alignment. And, primary sources are included in the history units.

It’s easy for instructors, yet they can customize it if they choose.  There are features available for instructors to monitor what is being posted by their students and compare it to the curriculum, and some features are auto-graded at the end of the unit.

All DiT team members share a passion for education and the humanities. Therefore, DiT is a natural outgrowth of the team's backgrounds and interests as well as the team's desire to create an innovative platform to inspire students to greater depths of learning and critical thinking.

About Us & Our Mission and Vision

Contributing at a strategic level, Ronda Kelley was the first board president and a key leader in turning a startup educational concept into a nationally ranked K-12th grade school. She created and led the school's marketing efforts and established systems necessary to sustain the organization. That school now provides an education to about 1,450 pupils with many more eager to get in each year. Those hoping to get into the school are selected through a random lottery. For the 2014-2015 school year, six students enrolled out while over 2,000 enrollment applicants submitted a lottery entry for admission into the school. Ronda holds a Business degree with a focus in Marketing from Georgetown University. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Sheryl Shafer is a freelance writer, researcher and editor focusing on educational leadership and business marketing communications. She has leadership experience in the start-up phase of multiple corporate and nonprofit businesses, including the founding of a K-12 school in Colorado that has consistently been ranked as one of the top 100 schools in the country by both U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek. Her published work focuses on the education field and travel writing. She holds an MA in Education Leadership, Policy and Politics from Columbia University's Teachers College and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University.

Dr. Brian DeToy is a retired Army officer and university professor who most recently ran the Defense & Strategic Studies program at the US Military Academy, West Point. He is an author and historian, with an undergraduate degree in History from Notre Dame and a PhD from Florida State in European History. He has appeared on numerous television documentaries focused on various aspects of history for the History Channel, A&E, Discovery Channel, Military Channel and PBS. Brian also likes to think he is an Ultimate Frisbee savant.

Colin Kelley earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science and is writing curriculum for DiT's history units. With the goal of one day transitioning into teaching, Colin is particularly interested in DiT's innovative pedagogy and the excitement it brings to the classroom. For fun, Colin can often be found salsa dancing, participating in martial arts, and hanging out with friends and family.

Ian Post-Green started coding before he started driving. He founded his first development house in 1999 and has grown alongside the web, always staying abreast of the next thing. He is proud to bring his varied skills to the team. When not coding, you'll find him singing or playing music somewhere around the Front Range.

Nicole Willson has been playing and working on computers for over 30 years.  She earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University but started out as a Math major at Texas A&M.  She's worked on a wide variety of platforms including almost every variety of linux out there.  She loves to read SciFis and Fantasy novels and ride her LWB recumbent bicycle. She also likes taking her furry son, Jeremiah, for long walks.
