Discourse in Time is a new, interactive supplemental educational software program for history and literature.  The program is targeted to middle school, high school and college students. Our product is similar to Facebook in that students log on and “live the lives” of historical and literary characters. They upload profile pictures, fill out their bios, send friend/frenemy requests, create events, communicate through “secret” messages, and respond in-character to DiT-provided history or literature plot events as they unfold. Some event responses are longer to encourage writing skills and standards alignment, and students can win awards for completing assignments. All history units include primary sources and period-specific ancillary materials to enhance the learning experience.

DiT is easy for instructors.  Curriculum is included, yet they can customize it if they choose.  There are features available for teachers to monitor what is being posted by their students and compare it to the DiT-provided curriculum, and some features are auto-graded at the end of the unit.

DiT is currently seeking experienced, commission-based, contract sales agents to bring our new product to market.


  • Work with DiT President to create and manage sales plan, which will include target school administrators, principals and teachers, important partners, leading education publications (including online), associations, key conferences and other sales generating opportunities, with a plan to leverage those affiliations to create sales
  • Sell DiT in the secondary and/or college educational market
  • Promote DiT to school administrators, principals, teachers and students, and listen to their questions and feedback
  • Be attentive to the needs of clients and potential customers, create solutions, and lead a smooth sales process
  • Build new sales leads
  • Work with clients in the field and provide feedback to DiT


  • Knowledge of Education Distribution Channels: We are seeking an independent rep or agency with experience in the K-12 and/or college educational sales process.
  • Communications Skills: DiT will provide training on the program and will be available to answer questions that you may have.  You will communicate DiT's program, features and benefits and answer clients and potential customers' questions.
  • Customer Service Skills:DiT believes in strong customer support.  We are seeking an individual or company who shares our goal of meeting customer needs in a friendly, efficient and attentive manner.  It is important to listen carefully to clients and potential customers' needs and provide solutions.
  • Perseverance: DiT respects that our program will not be a fit for all potential customers.  However, we are seeking an individual with resolve, who tries to find answers to questions, can clearly and politely explain DiT's benefits, is willing to follow-up with potential clients, and is able to rebound when the answer is "no."
  • Time Flexibility: Rather than a 9:00 to 5:00 position, you may need to meet with customers and potential customers when it works for their schedule.  Travel will also be needed.

This is a contract-based position.
